MCA Stage presents Miguel Gutierrez and the Powerful People with their newest work on Jan 31, Feb 2, and Feb 3. Based in New York and internationally active, Gutierrez has been called “one of our most provocative and necessary artistic voices” by Dance Magazine.
Exploring the ghostlike traces that dance leaves on your mind and body, And lose the name of action is an evening length performance for six unforgettable, award-winning performers. Michelle Boulé, Hilary Clark, Luke George, Miguel Gutierrez, K.J. Holmes and Ishmael Houston-Jones come together to form an incongruent family and create a moving scéance for the 21st Century. Inspired by Jørgen Leth’s film The Perfect Human, the elusive logic of dance improvisation, philosophical quandaries about the brain, and the 19th century spiritualist movement, the performance draws connections between the analytical and the unexplainable, grappling with the limits of language and the ever present spectre of death.

Limited ticket availability!
This work is performed for a small (125 person) audience, seated onstage in a space Gutierrez designed to create a sense of intimacy and vulnerability.
Tickets are available at the MCA Box Office at 312.397.4010 or www.mcachicago.org
Running time is 90 minutes, no intermission.
